School Nurse / Trainee – Highland Council

About the role

The Highland Council is seeking a qualified School Nurse or a Trainee School Nurse to lead and deliver universal public health programmes for children and young people aged 5‑19 in school and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and evaluate the school‑age immunisation programme.
• Support education staff as the Named Person, contributing to Child Plans using the national practice model.
• Provide leadership in health assessment and care planning for students.
• Delegate tasks to members of the school nursing team to ensure coordinated care.

Required profile

• Qualified School Nurse (Band 7) or a trainee at any stage of the three‑year training pathway.
• Registration with the appropriate nursing regulator.
• Strong commitment to child health and public‑health outcomes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families and health partners.
