Senior Backend Engineer – App Team

About the role

Redcare Pharmacy, Europe’s leading e‑pharmacy, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its App team. You will help build and maintain the backend systems that power one of Europe’s top medical apps used by millions across several countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new high‑performance, scalable features for mobile app users.
• Collaborate with app engineers to define API contracts and optimise data flows.
• Drive backend performance through testing, monitoring and robust CI/CD practices.
• Architect and implement event‑driven microservices using RabbitMQ.
• Build and evolve a Backend‑for‑Frontend (BFF) layer tailored to mobile needs.
• Ensure software quality with automated tests (TDD/BDD preferred).
• Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision‑making.
• Contribute to a feedback‑driven, collaborative team culture.

Required profile

• Demonstrated seniority through impact, proactivity and ownership.
• Proven expertise in TypeScript, Node.js and Nest.js with production‑grade API‑first systems.
• Comfortable with Python; bonus for AI/ML‑related experience.
• DevOps mindset with hands‑on experience in Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building robust APIs and event‑driven architectures.
• Familiarity with security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, encryption, secrets management).
• Commitment to clean code, strong test coverage and continuous improvement.
• Team player thriving in a feedback‑driven environment.
