Senior Backend Engineer – Platform Engineering

About the role

We are a leading cloud software company seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You will help build the internal developer platform that powers the entire engineering organization, delivering infrastructure, tooling, and developer experiences that accelerate product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the Internal Developer Platform, including DSL, compiler, and runtime components.
• Develop and maintain platform infrastructure, product services, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and developer tooling.
• Create AI‑enabled engineering workflows and tooling to boost productivity.
• Provide reusable systems and services used across multiple product teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong software architecture and system design capabilities.
• Proven experience building APIs and scalable backend services.
• Ownership mindset from design through production.
• Fluent German (C1+).

Required skills

• Kubernetes and production‑grade environment management.
• CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling.
• AI‑assisted development and engineering productivity.
• DSL, compiler, and runtime development.
• Experience with PHP, Kotlin, Rust, MongoDB, Grafana, Jenkins.
• Familiarity with LLM integration or agentic workflows.
