Senior Consultant – Sustainable Land Management

About the role

The Global Mechanism of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is seeking senior‑level consultants to support its preparations for COP17. The consultants will provide expert guidance, validate technical outputs, and help shape high‑impact events that advance sustainable land management and innovative financing.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and finalize a range of technical products and knowledge outputs related to land management and finance.
• Prepare, organize, and facilitate high‑level events, forums, and stakeholder meetings.
• Engage with government officials, private‑sector partners, and development finance institutions to promote collaboration.
• Contribute to the development of an investable project pipeline and resource‑mobilisation strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in sustainable land management, environmental finance, or related fields.
• Proven ability to work with international organisations and multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of UNCCD processes and the objectives of COP17.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for high‑visibility events.
