Senior Director of Pathology (VP level)

About the role

Discovery Life Sciences seeks a seasoned senior leader to head its global pathology operations. Reporting as Vice President of Pathology, you will partner with business developers, operational leaders, and biotech/pharma clients to drive project assessments, resource planning, and delivery of high‑quality pathology services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and build a global pathology team, fostering collaboration across regions.
• Represent the pathology function to customers and act as the escalation point for pathology‑related challenges.
• Manage global pathology resources, harmonize processes, and ensure consistent quality of deliverables.
• Define training plans, supervise proficiency testing, and oversee competency programs.
• Serve as Laboratory Director for CAP/CLIA compliance and as principal investigator for IVD performance studies.
• Evaluate and introduce state‑of‑the‑art histopathology and molecular pathology technologies.
• Assess feasibility of new project requests and validate novel histological assays.
• Perform manual review and release of test results for clinical and central testing studies.
• Enter results into the Laboratory Information Management System (TALIMS‑1) and conduct digital image analysis.
• Develop training content for the Discovery Academy and consult project managers on pathology matters.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in pathology laboratory leadership, preferably within a biotech or pharmaceutical service environment.
• Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and manage client relationships.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (CAP, CLIA, national IVD laws).
• Track record of successful biomarker test development, validation, and clinical trial support.
