Senior Engineer - Fibre Plan and Design

About the role

The Senior Engineer – Fibre Plan and Design will lead the planning, design and documentation of fiber‑optic networks for enterprise customers in the Düsseldorf region. The role combines technical analysis, cost optimisation and stakeholder coordination to ensure high‑quality delivery of fiber solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare High‑Level and Low‑Level design documents, including scope of work, splicing schematics, civil and cable plans.
• Perform CAPEX and OPEX calculations to optimise fibre planning and validate costs.
• Use GIS applications (Small World, MicroStation, ArcGIS) to map assets, conduct line planning and generate material estimates.
• Assess mobile‑phone site feasibility for fibre‑optic connectivity, including FTTS and Stage 1b enterprise scenarios.
• Coordinate with build partners, third‑party service providers and internal teams to monitor surveying and design activities.
• Conduct cost‑benefit analyses and feasibility studies for new projects.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of hands‑on experience in fiber‑optic network engineering.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field.
• Proficiency in English and German (B2 level minimum).
• Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
