Senior Expert Direct Tax Reporting

About the role

Zalando is looking for a Senior Expert Direct Tax Reporting to support its Tax team. You will become the key expert for direct tax reporting, owning the tax numbers of the group and representing Zalando's tax positions to internal stakeholders, external auditors and the public. The role covers direct tax reporting under IFRS within the quarterly financial reporting cycle, leading the process, output and underlying tax technology.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all tax reporting processes in the financial reporting cycle and ensure they are well documented
• Serve as mentor and trainer for the supporting tax team on current and deferred tax calculations
• Act as primary contact for Finance and external auditors, preparing transparent tax analytics for tax leadership
• Own all direct tax tools used by the Tax team and implement new ones, including the use of AI where appropriate
• Meet other reporting obligations such as OECD Pillar 2, (public) CbCR, Tax Contribution and ESG reporting

Required profile

• Degree in tax, law, economics, business administration or a comparable background
• Deep expertise in corporate tax accounting, financial reporting and consolidation, ideally under IFRS and/or German GAAP
• Understanding of CbCR and Pillar 2, and interest in the OECD/EU Commission's impact on tax reporting
• Proven track record of implementing and owning complex financial processes and controls
• Fluent English (written and spoken)

Required skills

• SAP knowledge or experience with other analytical programmes
• Ability to communicate outcomes to non-specialists
