Senior Manager, Risk Controlling – ICAAP/ILAAP (Pillar 1)

About the role

N26 is seeking a senior leader to own and evolve its Risk Governance & Capital Planning function. You will drive ICAAP and ILAAP processes, ensuring regulatory compliance and robust risk controls across capital and liquidity dimensions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enhance capital planning and ICAAP governance, including stress‑testing frameworks and scenario design.
• Own and further develop the ILAAP framework, liquidity risk methodologies, and key liquidity metrics.
• Oversee risk‑governance components such as RWA calculation, risk‑appetite framework, policy setting, limit monitoring and internal controls.
• Maintain the risk inventory and recovery plan, aligning capital and liquidity perspectives.
• Drive continuous improvement of risk reporting, delivering data‑driven insights for senior management.
• Ensure data governance and quality in line with BCBS 239 for capital and liquidity inputs.
• Act as primary contact for auditors and regulators, ensuring adherence to MaRisk, CRR, ICAAP, ILAAP and EBA expectations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Risk and other cross‑functional teams, leveraging technology to automate workflows.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, mathematics or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in risk management, risk controlling, capital planning or liquidity risk within a regulated financial institution or consultancy.
• Strong expertise in ICAAP, capital planning and ILAAP, with solid knowledge of liquidity risk management.
• Proven track record of mentoring team members and leading complex cross‑functional initiatives.
