Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of high‑end equipment modules that achieve sub‑micron precision. The role is based near Munich and requires onsite work in a fast‑paced, mass‑production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of sub‑assemblies with validated precision and 24/7 reliability.
• Apply a systems‑engineering approach from customer requirements to final production qualification.
• Develop deep knowledge of core manufacturing processes such as optical module assembly, data‑storage system manufacturing, and precision die‑attach.
• Translate complex process requirements into robust mechanical design specifications.
• Introduce innovative technologies to improve process speed and overall precision.
• Support HQ engineering teams in design optimisation for volume manufacturing scale‑up.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in precision automation, including several years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven track record building precision equipment for advanced packaging, photonics and semiconductor applications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing environments from both equipment‑supplier and shop‑floor perspectives.
• Excellent English communication skills and strong intercultural awareness.
