Senior Python Backend Engineer (Remote/EU)

About the role

As a Senior Python Backend Engineer at Makersite, you will help shape sustainable product development by building robust, data‑driven APIs and pipelines. You will work remotely while collaborating closely with customers, designers, and front‑end engineers across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Gather functional requirements together with customers.
• Collaborate with UX designers to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop efficient, data‑powered REST APIs using Python.
• Design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines and AI models that power the APIs.
• Work with front‑end engineers to ensure seamless API integration.
• Participate in testing, debugging, and bug‑fixing activities.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as a Python backend developer, with at least 2 years in a B2B environment.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers.
• Experience with Python frameworks such as Flask or Bottle.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and RESTful services.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and preferably graph databases.
• Proven ability to build complex data pipelines and work on large, enterprise‑grade applications.
• Based in Germany or elsewhere in Europe.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
