Senior Site Reliability Engineer – OpenStack & Bare Metal

About the role

You will help build, operate and industrialise OVHcloud's on‑premise cloud platform. As part of a small senior team you will work on OpenStack‑based infrastructure and the Kubernetes/GitOps stack that powers the customer‑facing cloud. AI‑assisted engineering is a first‑class part of the workflow, from spec‑driven development to incident response and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build an OpenStack‑based on‑premise cloud infrastructure, delivering complete cloud environments from bare metal to production through highly automated deployment.
• Develop and operate Infrastructure as Code with Ansible and Terraform and manage Kubernetes/GitOps workflows using FluxCD or ArgoCD, supported by LLMs, agentic tools and automated testing.
• Own the compute‑infrastructure lifecycle – from firmware, bare‑metal provisioning and hypervisors to virtual compute nodes, including patching, migrations, host evacuation and capacity rebalancing.
• Build and extend AI substrate and self‑healing capabilities, turning manual runbooks into automated processes.
• Design tests for non‑regression, performance and security, document solutions and continuously improve the platform based on telemetry and user feedback.
• Act as a technical reference and sparring partner for peers across automation, platform engineering and AI tooling.

Required profile

• Several years of hands‑on experience as an SRE, Platform Engineer or DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in OpenStack, Kubernetes and Linux, including bare metal.
• End‑to‑end management of compute infrastructure, from firmware/BIOS rollouts and bare‑metal provisioning to hypervisors, migrations, host evacuation and capacity rebalancing.
• Daily use of AI‑assisted engineering, leveraging LLMs and agentic tools for development, testing, reviews or operations.
• Proficiency with Ansible, Terraform and GitOps workflows such as FluxCD or ArgoCD, turning automation into robust production systems.
• Ideally writes Go and/or Python and has experience with Claude Code, Cursor, Aider or comparable agentic coding environments.
• Exposure to observability, networking, compute tuning, auto‑remediation, security‑critical infrastructure or multi‑site clouds is a plus.
• Works autonomously, strong sense of ownership, enjoys improving systems and sharing knowledge; fluent in English (written and spoken).
