Senior Strategic Buyer – Mechanical Components

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Buyer to lead procurement of mechanical components for robotics and automation projects. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating and purchasing parts such as motors, gearboxes, machined and injection‑molded components while ensuring cost efficiency, quality and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for a wide range of mechanical components across multiple robot product lines.
• Manage commodity categories and supplier pools, building long‑term partnerships that deliver sustainable value.
• Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts and commercial terms; handle escalations and critical supplier issues.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance in quality, delivery, cost and capacity, while mitigating supply‑chain risks.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through VA/VE, should‑cost analysis, benchmarking and supplier cost‑structure analysis.
• Set and track cost targets, stay informed on market trends, material costs and emerging manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, R&D, Project Procurement, Quality and Production to align sourcing with business needs.
• Represent Strategic Procurement in supplier‑selection decisions, providing commercial expertise and market insights.
• Support DFM/DFA activities by linking engineering with suitable suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply‑chain management, preferably in robotics, automation or manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation and contract‑management capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Hands‑on, proactive and empathetic attitude.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
