Sensors Systems Engineer – UAV Perception

About the role

We are looking for a Sensors Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of perception hardware for our unmanned aerial vehicles. You will work within the Perception team to develop rugged, high‑performance sensor payloads that meet strict size, weight and power constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Define optical specifications (focal length, field of view, MTF) and select lenses, EO/IR cameras, IMUs and Lidar.
• Manage relationships with external sensor and optics suppliers, reviewing datasheets and ensuring compliance with mission requirements.
• Integrate sensors and gimbals into UAV platforms, handling high‑speed electrical interfaces and mechanical mounting.
• Develop C++ interfaces to sensor SDKs and ensure reliable data flow to embedded compute modules.
• Write Python scripts to automate optical lab equipment, run hardware tests and process sensor data.
• Perform intrinsic and extrinsic calibration of cameras and IMUs and analyze calibration results.
• Collaborate with mechanical designers and autonomy engineers to balance optical performance with weight, thermal and power limits.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or a related field.
• Strong understanding of applied optics, lens selection and imaging system performance.
• Experience working with hardware suppliers and driving technical procurement decisions.
• Hands‑on experience with EO/IR cameras, IMUs and Lidar integration.
