Setting Out Engineer – Data Centre Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a leading international construction contractor on high‑profile data centre projects in Cologne. You will ensure that all setting‑out and surveying activities are executed accurately, supporting the delivery of mission‑critical facilities for global technology clients.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out setting‑out duties for structural, civil and infrastructure works.
• Establish and maintain site control points and survey data.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and BIM models.
• Conduct quality checks and as‑built surveys.
• Liaise with project teams, subcontractors and consultants to resolve technical issues.
• Support project planning, sequencing and record‑keeping of survey information.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on large‑scale construction or civil engineering projects.
• Experience with data centre, industrial or mission‑critical facilities.
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, steel frame and civil works.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Leica surveying equipment.
• Proficiency with Trimble surveying equipment.
• Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering processes.
