Software Engineer – Data Science & AI Solutions (Secret Clearance)

About the role

Mission Essential is seeking a Software Engineer to support a critical U.S. Department of Defense initiative in Germany. The role focuses on delivering advanced data science and engineering solutions while maintaining a Secret clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Debug and troubleshoot front‑end and back‑end code, recommending fixes.
• Implement version control using Git and collaborate via GitHub or GitLab.
• Write unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests with frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Selenium.
• Document code, APIs, and system architecture for team reference.
• Collaborate with full‑stack, data science, and analyst teams to align project goals.
• Analyze data sets for descriptive and predictive purposes across platforms like Palantir, TDP, Microsoft, Advana, and various cloud services.
• Configure data pipelines and integrate APIs across multiple data platforms.
• Leverage low‑code/no‑code capabilities to create decision‑support tools.
• Develop Python, SQL, and R scripts for decision support and advanced analytics.
• Enhance AI/ML models and configure historical datasets for mathematical modeling.

Required profile

• Secret clearance is mandatory.
• Minimum experience varies by education: 7 years with a Master’s, 10 years with a Bachelor’s, 14 years with an Associate’s, or 18 years with specialized experience and an IT certification.
• Strong background in software development, data engineering, and analytical modeling.
