Software Engineer - Java Platform

About the role

Snowflake is building the next generation of data cloud infrastructure and needs engineers who are passionate about Java and the JVM. In this role you will work on core Java libraries and JVM infrastructure that power a high‑performance, globally‑used platform. You will collaborate with engineers worldwide to ensure the platform remains safe, efficient, and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to building next‑generation Java systems that are safe, efficient and secure.
• Provide a consistent, high‑performance platform for Snowflake engineers to deliver production solutions.
• Identify performance and availability issues, implement solutions, and instrument components as needed.
• Collaborate with global teams to solve large‑scale data infrastructure challenges.
• Continuously improve reliability and performance through proactive monitoring and automation.
• Implement automated testing and monitoring for Java components.
• Drive performance‑tuning initiatives across the platform.

Required profile

• Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Java systems.
• Understanding of Java fundamentals, the JVM and core libraries.
• Solid computer‑science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and distributed systems.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (advanced degree a plus).
• Eager to learn JVM internals and performance tuning.
