Solar Energy Technician (f/m/d)

About the role

Otovo, a leading renewable energy company founded in Norway in 2016 and active in several European countries since 2021, installs solar power systems for private homes. It offers a full-service offering from installation to regular maintenance, and is hiring a solar energy technician in Berlin. The role involves commissioning, maintenance and repair of solar installations, battery systems and EV charging stations, with direct customer contact.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair solar power systems, battery systems, EV charging stations and related electrical components
• Carry out regular maintenance: check cables, inverters, battery status and perform functional tests
• Commission and update systems: electrical configurations, earthing checks, inverter parameters, ATS tests of generators
• Perform electrical work, both routine and outside normal hours
• Contact customers directly: explain faults, solve problems and follow up
• Document work with reports, photos, checklists and used materials
• Be on standby for emergencies and follow the duty roster
• All work according to German standards (VDE 0100, VDE 0105, GSE processes adapted to German requirements)

Required profile

• Completed technical education in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification
• At least 2 years of experience in electricity; direct experience with solar, batteries or generators is ideal
• Valid German driving licence category B and willingness to do daily outdoor work
• Ability to lift loads up to 25 kg and strict adherence to safety regulations (DGUV, PSA)
• Good communication with customers and ability to work independently
• EU work permit required

Required skills

• VDE certificates
• Reading electrical schematics and safe use of professional measuring equipment
• Knowledge of VDE 0100, VDE 0105, GSE and grid operator procedures
• Optional: height work certification (an advantage)
