Specialist Exposure Modelling – Environmental Fate

About the role

BASF Agricultural Solutions is building a new company (BASF Agricultural Solutions Deutschland GmbH) and seeks a Specialist Exposure Modelling scientist to support regulatory risk assessments for crop protection products. The role focuses on environmental fate and exposure modelling, using advanced geospatial tools and AI‑driven approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct exposure modelling exercises for active substances used in plant protection products.
• Develop innovative modelling approaches to describe environmental exposure routes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to define timelines, plan tasks and communicate results.
• Represent the Environmental Fate Modelling function in internal and external collaborations.
• Promote knowledge sharing and leverage artificial intelligence to enhance modelling workflows.

Required profile

• PhD or MSc in Environmental Sciences, Hydrology, Soil Science or a related field.
• Experience with geospatial assessments related to hydrological or ecological topics.
• Proven experience in exposure modelling of crop protection chemicals.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software (ESRI suite, QGIS).
• Programming/scripting in Fortran, Python and R.
