Statcom Expert & Project Manager

About the role

Elia Grid International is looking for a Statcom Expert & Project Manager to lead HVDC converter‑station projects within its Owner's Engineering team. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from concept development to delivery, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Define plant‑specific Statcom requirements, including single‑line diagrams and layout integration in client substations.
• Prepare technical guidelines, supervise installation, and perform quality checks of Statcom equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Manage the entire technical implementation process, from concept design and tender documentation to contract award and delivery acceptance.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, safety regulations, and relevant standards throughout the project.
• Conduct technical and economic comparisons to support investment decisions and prepare cost forecasts.
• Collaborate with project managers, produce reports, budgets, schedules, and participate in construction meetings.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with Statcom and reactive power compensation systems (SVC, MSCDN) for HV substations up to 400 kV.
• Solid background in electrical network calculations, insulation coordination, and Statcom design studies.
• Proficiency in HV/MV transformer, cable, control‑cable and optical‑fiber design.
