Strategic Buyer – Advanced Surgery Supply Chain

About the role

Novanta is seeking a Strategic Buyer to lead the supply‑chain strategy for its Advanced Surgery business. You will shape sourcing, supplier performance and cost‑reduction initiatives that enable cutting‑edge medical devices to reach the market efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Advanced Surgery supply‑chain strategy aligned with business growth targets.
• Rationalise the supplier base, improve relationships, and implement supplier agreements.
• Drive sourcing from lower‑cost, high‑quality sources and leverage spend across Novanta business units.
• Implement productivity and supplier‑improvement plans as defined in the Annual Operating Plan.
• Establish a network of internal support resources to enhance design, cost and lead‑time reductions while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Address chronic or major supplier performance issues promptly to minimise disruption.
• Obtain competitive bids, analyse costs and negotiate contracts with key suppliers based on up‑to‑date commodity strategies and total cost of ownership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in developing and leading supply‑chain strategies for high‑tech or medical‑device environments.
• Strong ability to work cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering and Quality teams.
• Demonstrated track record of supplier performance improvement, cost reduction and inventory optimisation.
