Structural Mechanics Internship – Material Modelling for Thermoplastic Composites

About the role

We are looking for a motivated intern to join the Airframe and Propulsion Structures Department in Stade. The internship focuses on structural mechanics, specifically material modelling for thermoplastic composites used in aviation. You will analyse the influence of material parameters and help improve the material characterisation program.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and organise simulation studies systematically.
• Generate finite‑element models for thermoplastic composite parts.
• Run simulations and evaluate the results.
• Document and report findings according to scientific standards.

Required profile

• Enrolled full‑time student in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field.
• First practical experience with FEM simulations is desirable.
• Fluent English communication skills.
