Supplier Development Engineer for Mechanical Components

About the role

As a Supplier Development Engineer you will help shape and strengthen Audi's supply base for Formula 1 power‑unit components. Working from the Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg, you will collaborate with internal engineering, quality and procurement teams to ensure suppliers meet the high performance, precision and reliability standards required in a fast‑paced, innovation‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support supplier selection, conduct audits and manage strategic suppliers for critical power‑unit parts.
• Lead supplier readiness for series production under aggressive F1 timelines, including on‑site assessments across Europe and globally.
• Act as the technical interface between Audi engineering/quality teams and suppliers, ensuring manufacturability of complex components.
• Drive robust problem‑solving using 8D, root‑cause analysis and monitor supplier KPIs (quality, delivery, capability).
• Support APQP/PPAP activities, validate production processes through FMEA, control plans and capability studies.
• Promote lean manufacturing, identify cost‑efficiency opportunities and drive innovation within the supplier network.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in supplier development, supplier quality or manufacturing engineering within high‑precision industries (motorsport, automotive, aerospace).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, APQP, PPAP, FMEA and SPC.
