Tax Manager – Direct Tax (Remote, Germany)

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Manager (Direct Tax) to lead our international direct tax function from Germany. The role is fully remote and will support the company’s global growth by ensuring compliance, optimizing tax processes and managing cross‑border tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee global direct tax compliance, preparing and filing corporate income tax, withholding tax and other direct tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors to manage filings, documentation and reporting obligations.
• Identify and mitigate direct tax risks, maintain relationships with tax authorities and support tax audits.
• Provide strategic tax advice on international transactions, corporate structures and tax planning initiatives.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in international tax legislation, treaties and regulatory developments.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, HR and other functions to ensure seamless tax reporting.
• Mentor junior tax professionals and drive process improvements through automation and AI‑enabled tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international direct taxation within a multinational or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of global corporate tax regulations, cross‑border taxation, tax treaties, EU directives and international compliance requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field; postgraduate qualification or Master’s in Taxation is a plus.
• Experience managing multiple projects and leading or mentoring tax teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluent English; additional languages are advantageous.
