Transformer Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

L&T Technology Services Limited is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in power transformers to join its Munich team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing transformer mechanical components to meet robustness, reliability, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical structures, enclosures, bushings, radiators, tap changers, and related parts for transformers.
• Establish and maintain design processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent quality.
• Create design concepts, calculations, and technical drawings that satisfy customer and regulatory requirements.
• Use advanced CAD tools such as CREO and Windchill for modeling and drafting.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain and procurement teams to verify material and vendor compliance.
• Evaluate existing designs for improvements in efficiency, performance, and cost.
• Document design processes, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure all designs comply with international standards (IEC, ANSI, IEEE) and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the transformer or electrical equipment industry.
• Proven ability to manage design projects from concept to release.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CREO CAD software.
• Experience using Windchill or similar product data management tools.
• Strong mechanical design and drafting capabilities.
