Transport Capacity Planner

About the role

We are looking for a Transport Capacity Planner to manage network trail orders, capacity requests and switching orders across our core and access optical transport infrastructure. The role involves designing, planning and optimizing SDH, DWDM and OTN circuits for enterprise customers while ensuring compliance with service level agreements and redundancy requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process new trail, migration, clearing and de‑configuration orders using Cramer‑Fixed and Cramer‑Mobile tools.
• Handle capacity requests for enterprise connections, meeting Classic SLA and redundancy standards (MSP, MSPRING, SNCP).
• Coordinate with transport network teams to design access and core network capacity and perform optimisation.
• Maintain operational relationships with customers, internal owners and stakeholders.
• Monitor KPIs, SLAs and service quality, driving improvement plans and issue resolution.
• Create, edit, delete, upgrade and migrate links, nodes and objects in Cramer inventory.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in SDH/DWDM/OTN transmission planning.
• Graduation in Telecommunications, Electronics or related field.
• Proficient in English and German.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to operational issues.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of optical layer transport systems (OTN, ROADM, SDH, DWDM).
• Experience with cross‑connect switching, signal grooming and ring/mesh topologies.
• Familiarity with network management tools such as U2000 NMS, Cramer‑Fixed/Mobile, and equipment from Ciena, Marconi, Nortel.
• Planning expertise for PDH, SDH, Ethernet, DWDM and OTN circuits ranging from T1/E1 to 100 Gbps.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
