Working Student Software Engineer (20 hrs/week)

About the role

Join the Product & Tech team at 1komma5grad to help accelerate the energy transition. As a Working Student Software Engineer you will collaborate with experienced engineers, product managers and designers to build and maintain software that powers renewable‑energy installations for homes and small businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Discover, evaluate, implement and deploy software solutions for customer‑facing products.
• Extend and maintain business‑critical applications.
• Translate complex, undefined business problems into actionable requirements.
• Promote experiment‑driven innovation and reduce technical debt through automation, documentation and quality improvements.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and fellow engineers.
• Work with backend (Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS), frontend (React, TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel), mobile (Flutter), cloud (Google Cloud Platform services), observability (Datadog), IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).

Required profile

• Enrolled at a German university for at least two more semesters, studying Computer Science or a comparable field.
• Available to work 20 hours per week.
• Basic experience writing maintainable, reusable and testable code, especially with TypeScript.
• Understanding of RESTful API design.
• Agile, results‑oriented mindset with strong English communication skills (German a plus).
• Residency in Germany.
