Drone Test & Field Engineer

About the role

Join SE3 Labs as a Drone Test & Field Engineer. Help us get our autonomous systems airborne and pushed to their limits, turning advanced designs into robust, field‑proven, real‑world solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate and checkout new UAVs with hardware and software teams to achieve flight readiness.
• Operate and fine‑tune a range of drones, from backpackable quadcopters to three‑meter fixed‑wing eVTOLs.
• Own qualification and development flight testing, including planning, execution, data processing and documentation.
• Identify bugs and design flaws, propose improvements and accelerate development cycles.
• Demonstrate systems to partners and end‑users on test bases and in the field across Europe.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience assembling, tuning and operating drones (professional or competitive projects).
• Familiarity with Q Ground Control, Ardupilot or PX4 flight‑control software.
• Structured approach to mission planning, airspace coordination and regulatory compliance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for drones and electronics.
• Proactive attitude, ability to improvise and strong sense of ownership.
• Conversational English required; German is a strong plus.
• Driving licence class B (class BE a plus).

Required skills

• Q Ground Control, Ardupilot or PX4 flight‑control platforms.
• Data analysis (log interpretation, root‑cause and frequency‑domain analysis).
• Command‑line usage and basic scripting.
• Environmental testing such as vibration, EMI or thermal (ideally MIL‑Spec).
• Regulatory knowledge (EASA SORA or similar frameworks).
• Understanding of sensors, signal chains and testing setups.
• CAD and 3D‑printing for rapid prototyping.
