English Teacher (DoD International)

About the role

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoWEA) seeks a qualified English Teacher to deliver high‑quality instruction to students in an overseas school environment. The position involves adapting curriculum, supporting student achievement, and contributing to a positive school climate.

Key responsibilities

• Select, adapt, or modify teaching methods and materials to meet grade‑level standards and student needs.
• Support, counsel, and motivate students to achieve or exceed academic expectations.
• Foster a school climate conducive to learning, achievement, and citizenship.
• Participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, parents, and guardians on matters affecting student learning.
• Plan, develop, and organize long‑range lesson plans and daily class work to ensure in‑depth learning within curriculum timeframes.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Valid, unencumbered state teaching license in the relevant content area, or equivalent Praxis I and II certification or seven years of Pre‑K‑12 teaching experience.
• Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Ability to satisfy DoD security and mobility requirements, including Tier 1 background investigation and Childcare Checks.
• Willingness to accept worldwide placement, transportation and mobility agreements, and to obtain an official passport for overseas duty.

Required skills

• State teaching license (or equivalent certification).
• Praxis I and II certification (if applicable).
