About the role
This position provides specialized instruction for gifted and advanced learners in grades 6 through 12. The teacher collaborates with core content teams, support staff, and specialists to design and deliver differentiated curriculum, assessment, and services that meet the cognitive and affective needs of high‑ability students.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze assessment data (CAS, local assessments, CogAT) with grade‑level teams to determine instructional needs and flexible grouping.
- Plan collaboratively with core content teachers to develop differentiated curriculum, instruction, and assessment for gifted learners.
- Provide information to stakeholders about the Academic Program and Services (AAPS) program, including identification processes and levels of service.
- Consult with counselors, school psychologists, and other support personnel to address students’ academic and social‑emotional needs.
- Administer the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) screener to all sixth‑grade students.
- Coordinate with special educators, multilingual program teachers, and other specialists for students with multiple exceptionalities.
Required profile
- U.S. citizenship with proof required.
- Valid, unencumbered state teaching license in the relevant content areas, or equivalent qualifications (Praxis I & II or seven years of Pre‑K‑12 teaching).
- Ability to meet DoD civilian personnel requirements, including background investigation and Tier 1 childcare checks.
- Willingness to complete a two‑year trial period and obtain an official passport if assigned overseas.
