Laboratory Manager – Device & Combination Development

About the role

AbbVie is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead the Engineering Testing & Laboratory team within its Device and Combination Product Development unit in Ludwigshafen. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing engineering confidence and design verification testing for parenteral and pharmaceutical application systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering Testing & Laboratory team (ETAG) in all testing activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute confidence and design verification testing for combination products.
• Conduct functional performance testing of combination products and related studies.
• Translate user, product, and stakeholder needs into design inputs and product requirements.
• Support feasibility assessments, prototyping, and laboratory testing to ensure robust device development.

• Self‑motivated and communicative professional with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Proven leadership track record in an engineering or laboratory environment.
• Experience in device and combination product development within the biopharmaceutical sector.
