Manager, OTA Vehicle Engineering

About the role

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies (RV Tech) is redefining vehicles through continuous software updates. As the Manager of OTA Vehicle Engineering in Berlin, you will lead a local chapter that designs, develops and tests over‑the‑air (OTA) features for electric vehicles, supporting the joint effort to build a software‑defined car.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Berlin OTA team from a technical and architectural perspective, ensuring autonomy within the global OTA organization.
• Own development and testing of OTA features assigned to the Berlin chapter.
• Collaborate with OTA engineering sites in Palo Alto, Irvine and Belgrade to establish effective work‑distribution processes.
• Partner with Volkswagen Group stakeholders and spend at least 50 % of time contributing technically to the OTA system.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development or integration experience, including 2+ years managing engineers.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams in a highly cross‑functional, international environment.
• Experience with systems engineering, architectural development and establishing software development processes.

Required skills

• High‑performance C++ and/or Rust for POSIX systems.
• Embedded C and/or Rust for real‑time operating systems.
• Test‑automation development in Python and Go.
• Automotive diagnostic protocols such as UDS and SOVD.
• Automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, FlexRay, ETH‑UDP, ISO‑TP over ETH‑TCP.
