Materials Examiner & Identifier (Forklift Operator)

About the role

The Materials Examiner and Identifier is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and classifying a wide range of materials, ensuring proper documentation and handling. The role combines inventory management with hands‑on forklift operation in a secure, government‑controlled environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and examine materials, determining condition and disposition.
• Review disposal turn‑in documents and verify data against property records.
• Visually inspect usable property for condition, acceptability, and special handling requirements.
• Assign classification instructions for warehousing, including hazardous, precious, or demilitarized items.
• Verify demilitarization codes, challenge questionable items, and maintain segregated storage.
• Ensure proper certification is attached to turn‑in documents.
• Conduct special and periodic inventories, re‑palletize or relocate property as needed.
• Operate forklifts and related material‑handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and move palletized items.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Eligibility for a non‑critical sensitive security clearance.
• FLSA exempt status.
• Selective Service registration (or exemption) for applicable males.
• REAL ID or acceptable federal facility identification.
• Pre‑employment physical and ability to meet overseas rotation requirements (36‑month tour).
