(Mechanical) Vehicle Component Test Technician – Berlin

About the role

Join Tesla’s Vehicle Component and Hardware Test Team in Berlin as a (Mechanical) Vehicle Component Test Technician. You will support development across multiple validation projects, testing chassis systems, structural parts, thermal systems, seats, exteriors and closures under durability, performance and reliability conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform independent vehicle component tests using specialized equipment, fixtures, environmental chambers and data loggers following SOPs.
• Prepare test setups, instrument components, assemble test rigs and conduct teardowns for root‑cause analysis.
• Document findings, generate reports and present results to engineering teams.
• Maintain high test throughput, ensure data quality and troubleshoot test equipment.
• Support commissioning of new machines, perform functional testing and record deviations.
• Manage organizational tasks such as creating and maintaining procedures, SOPs, equipment inventories, lab commissioning and staff training.

Required profile

• Completed German vocational training (Berufsausbildung) or equivalent in vehicle mechanics, mechatronics, industrial mechanics or related fields.
• Approximately two years of hands‑on experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous materials, high‑voltage batteries and mandated PPE.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability in repetitive tasks and adaptability to evolving technologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mechanical and electrical tools, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Experience using 3D printers, machining equipment and vehicle lifts.
• Familiarity with data loggers, environmental test chambers and specialized test fixtures.
• Solid computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly.
