Mixed Teacher Specialist – Special Education & Speech Pathology

About the role

This position combines responsibilities of a Special Education Generalist and a Speech Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive instructional support for K‑12 students. The role is based within the Department of Defense Education Activity and may require worldwide placement.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and organize long‑range lesson plans and daily class work to meet curriculum standards.
• Select, adapt and modify teaching methods and materials that best serve the assigned grade levels and subject matter.
• Implement safety and security procedures and contribute to a positive school climate.
• Support, counsel and motivate students, taking into account their individual personalities, backgrounds and interests.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation with Childcare Checks.
• Valid, unencumbered state teaching license in the relevant content areas (or equivalent Praxis I & II scores or seven years of Pre‑K‑12 teaching experience).
• Completion of required pre‑employment certifications, direct‑deposit enrollment and willingness to sign transportation and mobility agreements for worldwide placement.
• Eligibility to meet DoD civilian employment requirements, including passport acquisition for overseas assignments.
