PhD position - Satellite-to-Vehicle Communication in 6G Networks

About the role

Join Bosch’s research team to shape the future of automotive connectivity. You will work on Non‑Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) that are expected to become a cornerstone of the upcoming 6G mobile standard, extending the reach of terrestrial networks for seamless vehicle communication.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intensive research on satellite‑to‑vehicle communication solutions based on innovative 6G networks.
• Develop and implement advanced handover algorithms between terrestrial and non‑terrestrial networks to ensure continuous, reliable connectivity.
• Create simulations or prototypes to validate concepts and demonstrate feasibility.
• Contribute research results to 3GPP studies, file patents, and integrate findings into future releases.
• Collaborate with universities, partner companies, and leading experts within the publicly funded “6G‑Coverage” project.
• Publish scientific articles, present at international conferences, and write the doctoral dissertation.

Required profile

• Excellent Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a comparable field.
• Strong knowledge of communication systems, including PHY/MAC layers and 3GPP standards.
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and practical experience in simulation, structured software development, and prototype construction.
• Ability to work independently on complex problems while contributing actively to team processes.
• Good command of English and German.
