Policy and Engagement Officer – Berlin

About the role

The Environmental Justice Foundation is seeking a Policy and Engagement Officer to join its Berlin team. You will support the Germany Chief Representative in advancing ocean‑conservation and fisheries‑governance priorities across Germany and the wider EU.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor developments in the Bundestag and German policy arena and translate them into briefing material and communication content.
• Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to advance EJF’s policy objectives.
• Plan and execute campaign actions, events and engagement activities focused on fisheries enforcement and EU environmental standards.
• Contribute to the German team’s planning, reporting and strategic alignment.
• Support the creation of internal and external communications that turn policy issues into compelling stories.

Required profile

• Early‑to‑mid‑career professional with a strong interest in environmental policy, especially marine and fisheries issues.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, able to convey complex policy topics clearly.
• Proactive, ‘can‑do’ attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
