Prototyping Technician – Drone Prototype Assembly

About the role

As a Prototyping Technician in the System Test and Prototyping Department, you will work hands‑on in Gilching to build and validate the next generation of drone systems. You will collaborate with engineers and technicians in an agile environment, turning design concepts into functional prototypes.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble drone prototypes from engineering specifications and design files.
• Install and integrate sensors, motors, avionics, and other hardware components.
• Prepare prototypes for customer demonstrations and field testing.
• Perform soldering, wiring, and harness manufacturing, including crimping.
• Operate CNC machines, 3D printers, and hand tools; produce 3D‑printed parts for rapid iteration.
• Conduct functional tests, identify issues, and support iterative design improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot and refine prototypes.

Required profile

• Proven experience building, assembling, and troubleshooting drones or model aircraft.
• Strong hands‑on skills with electronic and mechanical system integration.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality throughout prototyping.
• Collaborative mindset and effective communication within cross‑functional teams.
