Public Engagement & Strategic Content Specialist

About the role

The Public Engagement & Strategic Content Specialist will lead online public engagement and press operations for the Consulate General Leipzig. Working closely with senior diplomatic staff, the role shapes digital and traditional communications that promote understanding of U.S. policy among German audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee social‑media, mobile and other digital properties, creating and curating strategic content in English and German.
• Develop policies, procedures and guidelines for emerging digital technologies and crisis communications.
• Coordinate public diplomacy strategic planning, audience research, program evaluation and measurement.
• Advise the Consul General and PD leadership on long‑term trends, emerging issues and strategies to secure balanced German media coverage of U.S. interests.
• Monitor, analyze and report on German press coverage relevant to the consular district.
• Build and maintain relationships with press owners, editors, producers and journalists; organize media tours, journalist training and exchange programs.

Required profile

• University degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science or Business.
• Professional experience in a media outlet, international organization, government or private sector.
• Demonstrated experience in communications, journalism or public relations.
• Proven ability to design and execute multimedia campaigns in digital formats.
