Software Engineer – Real-time AI/ML Edge Systems

About the role

Walaris is seeking a Software Engineer to develop real‑time AI/ML processing systems for edge sensor signal processing in defense and security applications. You will work in Nuremberg with cross‑functional, international teams to integrate autonomous capabilities into military and security systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop real‑time AI/ML processing systems for edge sensor signal processing, such as drone detection and automated target recognition.
• Propose and implement back‑end software architecture improvements to boost performance and meet evolving customer requirements.
• Integrate Walaris software and technology into military and security platforms to add autonomous capabilities.
• Define work packages for subcontractors and review deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with project goals.
• Collaborate with R&D, sales, and product management to ensure requirements are fully integrated throughout development.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Extensive experience in real‑time, high‑throughput data processing, preferably within AI‑driven applications.
• Strong knowledge of object‑oriented development in Python or C++ and hands‑on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, Flask, GStreamer, and Deepstream.
• Proficiency in Linux software development and unit testing.
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD tools like GitLab pipelines or Jenkins.
• Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative, independent work style.
