Design Engineer (Electromechanical)

About the role

As a Design Engineer at NAXCON GmbH you will develop electromechanical components and assemblies for defence projects. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers and customers to deliver production‑ready solutions that meet quality, schedule and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse overall requirements and create 3D implementation concepts using CAD tools.
• Develop production‑ready designs while re‑using existing components where possible.
• Assist with cost estimates for development and manufacturing.
• Select and design standard and purchased parts for assigned units.
• Coordinate interfaces with internal departments, suppliers and customers.
• Participate in supplier selection and act as technical contact during procurement.
• Review technical product specifications for compliance.
• Process product data in SAP PLM.
• Manage subcontractors for development or manufacturing tasks.
• Plan and oversee integration activities for first‑article production.
• Support qualification, customer acceptance and series‑production preparation.
• Conduct engineering tests, inspections and assist with bid preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, precision engineering, mechatronics or a related field.
• Basic design experience in mechanical or plant engineering.
• Professional experience with 3D CAD design, preferably Siemens NX.
• Proficiency in SAP PLM.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering, optics and electrical engineering.
• Good written and spoken German and English.
• Strong organisational skills and a time‑ and cost‑conscious work ethic.
