Software Engineer – Remote Contract

About the role

Mercor is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to work remotely on enterprise‑level projects. This contract position offers the flexibility to work independently while contributing to a variety of language‑specific toolchains and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and complete coding tasks across multiple enterprise languages.
• Evaluate, improve, and build toolchains using C and Rust.
• Enhance JVM‑based ecosystems with C#, Kotlin, Scala, and Swift.
• Optimize production web and operations scripting with Ruby, PHP, and Perl.
• Advance scientific and quantitative computing initiatives using R.
• Work asynchronously to meet project deadlines and deliver high‑quality code.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience in at least one of the listed language domains.
• Deep understanding of language internals, tooling, and real‑world production constraints.
• Ability to reason about edge cases, performance, and system‑design trade‑offs.
• Detail‑oriented with strong written feedback skills.
