Software Engineer – Remote Contract

About the role
Mercor is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to work remotely on enterprise‑level projects. This contract position offers the flexibility to work independently while contributing to a variety of language‑specific toolchains and systems.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and complete coding tasks across multiple enterprise languages.
- Evaluate, improve, and build toolchains using C and Rust.
- Enhance JVM‑based ecosystems with C#, Kotlin, Scala, and Swift.
- Optimize production web and operations scripting with Ruby, PHP, and Perl.
- Advance scientific and quantitative computing initiatives using R.
- Work asynchronously to meet project deadlines and deliver high‑quality code.
Required profile
- Strong professional experience in at least one of the listed language domains.
- Deep understanding of language internals, tooling, and real‑world production constraints.
- Ability to reason about edge cases, performance, and system‑design trade‑offs.
- Detail‑oriented with strong written feedback skills.
