Accountant – German Office

About the role

As an Accountant for Hypersonica’s German entity, you will own day‑to‑day operational accounting in a fast‑scaling defence environment. You will help build Europe’s hypersonic capability by ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and automation across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable, expense pre‑booking, payment preparation and monthly transaction discipline.
• Finalize and stabilise the rollout of a new expense management system, establishing clean workflows, documentation standards and approval controls.
• Identify, design and implement process improvements to reduce manual effort and increase automation using modern finance tools and AI.
• Maintain structured documentation and audit readiness for accounting and tax compliance.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements for group reporting.
• Support the Director of Finance, freeing capacity for strategic work such as fundraising and capital planning.

Required profile

• Self‑standing accountant with hands‑on experience in transactional accounting, especially creditor processes.
• Experience with both German and UK accounting environments.
• Comfortable in a technically complex, high‑growth company with capex‑driven spend.
• Proactive, process‑oriented and able to identify gaps without waiting for instruction.
• Detail‑oriented, reliable under pressure and able to maintain compliance at startup speed.
