AI Training Officer

About the role

The AI Training Officer will bridge EMBL AI and the Data Science Centre, working closely with EICAT to develop and deliver world‑class AI training for EMBL researchers and the wider scientific community.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with EMBL scientists to identify training needs and translate current AI research into accessible course content.
• Design, create and deliver high‑quality workshops, courses, and online materials covering practical ML and deep learning, AI for life sciences and bioinformatics, large language models, generative AI, and responsible AI practices.
• Develop reusable open‑learning resources such as Jupyter/Quarto notebooks, tutorials, datasets, and instructional guides following FAIR and open‑science principles.
• Run in‑person and virtual training events at EMBL Heidelberg and across EMBL’s European sites.
• Conduct training needs analysis and provide one‑on‑one consulting to address specific scientific problems.

Required profile

• Experience designing and delivering AI training for scientific audiences.
• Ability to translate complex AI methods into hands‑on, accessible learning experiences.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with researchers, data scientists, and training infrastructure teams.
