Area Head of Health, Safety & Environment – Northern Europe

About the role

Maersk is looking for a seasoned, self‑driven leader to head Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) across its landside operations in the Northern Europe area. Based onsite in Hamburg, the role oversees warehouses, depots and transportation activities, ensuring the safety of people, assets and the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing team of HSE experts across the area, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Maintain and enhance the area’s HSE structure and framework to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks.
• Align business and functional priorities, creating cohesive strategies that support operational excellence and HSE objectives.
• Drive implementation and compliance with Maersk’s Global HSE Standards while accommodating country‑specific regulations.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Safety & Resilience and APMM teams to deliver tools, guidance and assurance programs that close compliance gaps.
• Build capability within the HSE function by ensuring teams are skilled, qualified and continuously up‑skilled.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in HSE within a logistics or transportation environment.
• Strong people‑leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Experience working in a matrixed, multi‑country organization.
• Ability to translate strategic HSE objectives into practical operational actions.
