Automation Software Development Internship – Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

About the role

As an Automation Software Development Engineering Intern at Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin‑Brandenburg, you will join the Automation Technical Service team to help digitise and optimise manufacturing equipment and processes. You will work alongside experienced developers, project managers and designers, gaining hands‑on experience with modern development practices and seeing how software directly improves production workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the design and implementation of modules, interfaces and small feature enhancements.
• Develop and document code using TypeScript, Python or Java and related frameworks.
• Write clean, well‑documented code under guidance and create or update technical documentation.
• Support quality assurance through unit tests, integration tests and bug fixing.
• Document identified bugs and their resolutions.
• Attend daily stand‑ups, code reviews and sprint planning sessions.
• Collaborate closely with developers, project managers and designers to understand requirements.
• Analyse and resolve minor issues in existing applications and handle tickets.
• Contribute to performance and security optimisations.

Required profile

• Enrolled student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of object‑oriented programming.
• Fundamental understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle).
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in German and English.
• Motivation to learn quickly, take responsibility and contribute to a fast‑paced environment.
