Designated Airworthiness Engineer – Electronics & Military Avionics

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Designated Airworthiness Engineer specialized in electronics and military avionics to join its Technical Certification Team. Based in Manching, you will support certification, qualification and continued airworthiness activities across all Airbus Defence and Space aircraft programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead certification, qualification and continued airworthiness tasks for electronics and military avionics disciplines.
• Issue airworthiness approvals and exercise Design Organisation Approvals (DOA) and Military Design Organisation Approvals (MDOA) as delegated.
• Manage certification and qualification milestones, identify technical risks, regulatory interpretation issues and safety compliance matters.
• Investigate incidents and accidents related to airworthiness technical knowledge.
• Provide technical certification expertise to design organisations and special projects.
• Influence and help define certification policies and strategies for the assigned technical discipline.

Required profile

• Proven experience in aircraft airworthiness certification, preferably in electronics or military avionics.
• Strong knowledge of DOA and MDOA processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to manage risk, interpret regulations and ensure safety compliance.
• Experience in incident/accident investigation related to airworthiness.
• Effective communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams and external standardisation bodies.
