Freelance Construction Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Our client, a leading German construction firm, seeks an experienced Freelance Construction Manager (Bauleiter) to lead site delivery on high‑profile infrastructure projects in Munich. The role focuses on metro, rail tunnel, and bridge works, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site construction activities for major infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal site teams.
• Monitor programme, budget, and progress against milestones.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and German construction regulations (VOB).
• Liaise with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct site meetings, reporting, and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Bauleiter/Construction Manager on large infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in metro, rail, tunnelling, or bridge construction.
• Fluent German (essential).
• Availability for an 18‑month freelance contract.
