HR Business Partner – R&D (Fixed‑Term, Darmstadt)

About the role

Kao is seeking an HR Business Partner to serve as the primary HR contact for its Research & Development function in Germany. The position is a fixed‑term maternity cover until 31 December 2026 and operates in a hybrid model, balancing remote and on‑site work.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with business leaders and team members, acting as a coach and advisor on people issues.
• Drive operational excellence, digitalisation, smart working, and work‑life balance initiatives.
• Manage headcount cost planning in partnership with the FP&A team.
• Champion DE&I by supporting the rollout of the EMEA roadmap within the client group.
• Handle the full employee life‑cycle, including performance, training, key life events, and data processing in Workday.
• Lead organizational restructures from proposal to execution, ensuring compliance with employment legislation.
• Coordinate the annual pay review and bonus processes, maintaining data accuracy.

Required profile

• Emerging HR professional with a hands‑on approach and strong operational execution skills.
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor to leaders and to influence HR strategy.
• Experience managing HR processes, headcount planning, and organizational change.
• Commitment to DE&I, digital transformation, and employee well‑being.

Required skills

• Workday (HRIS) proficiency.
