Junior Accountant (German & US GAAP)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to support our finance team in Hamburg. The role involves handling day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close, and tax compliance under both German GAAP (HGB) and US GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger, daily cash, and banking activities.
• Execute monthly and quarterly closing tasks in line with German and US GAAP.
• Prepare and review standard journal entries and intercompany transactions.
• Handle exchange‑rate conversions and revenue recognition, including percentage‑of‑completion documentation.
• Maintain accounts receivable, perform year‑end AR valuation adjustments, and manage contract‑related AR tasks.
• Prepare and submit local tax filings (VAT, wage tax, social security) and assist with corporate and trade tax submissions.
• Support tax and statutory audits and maintain the monthly closing checklist.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in accounting or audit.
• Experience with German tax routines (VAT, wage tax) is highly valued.
• Solid understanding of German GAAP; exposure to US GAAP is a plus.
• Professional proficiency in German and English.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
